Who I Am
Hi, and welcome! I’m Mike, and this little website is my internet home. I’m a self-taught baker, recipe developer, and food photographer that started @mikebakesnyc in 2016 while in law school as a creative outlet; it was a way to combine my love of photography with my insatiable sweet tooth. Now, I’m a licensed attorney who’s left the practice of law to make my dream of working in the food industry full-time come true.
Mike Bakes NYC focuses on indulgent yet approachable comfort foods and desserts. My blog’s mission is to encourage home-bakers of all experience levels to have fun in the kitchen. With recipes covering everything from pies to cakes to deep-fried mac & cheese balls… it’s a place that always smells delicious, and no one will ever judge you for eating a second piece.

What kind of camera do you use?
I photograph just about everything with a Canon 6D Mark II, and I have three primary lenses: 50mm f/1.8 lens, 105mm f/2.8, and 24-70mm f/2.8.
