Who I Am
Hi, and welcome! I’m Mike, and this little website is my internet home. I’m a self-taught baker, recipe developer, and food photographer that started @mikebakesnyc in 2016 while in law school as a creative outlet. Now, I’m working as an attorney by day, blogging about food at night, and exploring the best food spots New York City has to offer whenever my schedule allows!
Mike Bakes NYC focuses on indulgent yet approachable comfort foods and desserts. My blog’s mission is to encourage home-bakers of all experience levels to have fun in the kitchen. With recipes covering everything from pies to cakes to deep-fried mac & cheese balls… it’s a place that always smells delicious, and no one will ever judge you for eating a second piece.

What kind of camera do you use?
I photograph just about everything with a Canon 6D Mark II, and I have three primary lenses: 50mm f/1.8 lens, 105mm f/2.8, and 24-70mm f/2.8. I shoot using both natural light and artificial light (depending on the time of day) and use Adobe Lightroom to edit all of my pictures.
